Jane Dixon’s practice utilises the relationship between subject matter and methods of making to deepen conceptual meaning. Her work explores ambiguities, questions realities and seeks to bring the physical world (evidenced often in her graphite works by the act of taking rubbings) into close alignment with that of memory and the imaginary. Her distinctive visual language continues throughout her limited edition etchings and screenprints. Characterised by a sense of forensic examination through either digital or hand-drawn means, they use a limited monochrome palette relating strongly to her other works.
Dixon has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad and her work is held in public and private collections including The British Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, the Arts Council of England and Yale Center for British Art. She lives and works in London.
