Jane Harris is a contemporary painter whose work is characterised by the repeated use of an elliptical form. Whether used alone, in pairs, or as units in an overlapping group, these ellipses have a seductive quality. Through the use of a selective palette of vibrant and lustrous hues, Harris’s images often create optical illusions, where elements of the picture can appear to recede, others to gently pulsate. Her graphic style and use of bold colour lend itself to the medium of screenprinting which allows the artist to experiment with layering, embossing, and colour pairings.
Harris has exhibited widely internationally, and her work is held in numerous notable collections including Arts Council of England and the Government Art Collection. She currently lives and works in SW France.
