Loukas Morley’s work is characterised by a spare simplicity and a thoughtfulness of response to the insurmountable problem of humankind’s wastefulness. With a focus on site-specific projects, Morley works with salvaged and found materials which he uses to make furniture, interior and garden design commissions, collages and limited edition prints.
Morley's series of ‘Basket’ screenprints, made in collaboration with Kip Gresham at The Studio, are the result of an intimate engagement with a familiar object. These crumpled and discarded monochrome baskets have - in the artist's words - 'the fascinating addition of colourful handles' that lend each print its name. Here, screenprinting for Morley is the perfect technique for depicting linear, graphic objects that require no extraneous details. This unique style is specific to Morley’s work, producing images that are thought-provoking, poignant and elegant.
Based in Cambridge, Morley has exhibited his work widely including the Midlands and South East of England.
