Malarky is a prolific illustrator, street artist and skateboarder based in London and Barcelona. His playful, vibrant murals can be seen adorning brick walls, metal shop shutters, and vehicle exteriors across cities in Europe in particular, in Brixton, South West London. His distinctive characters, which include a wiley urban fox with an oversize head and circular teeth, originally evolved from painted text works. In the artist’s words: ‘for a while I was doing letter pieces, but my letters normally always ended up turning into characters and then I started focusing on the characters and just drawing stuff that made me smile.’
Malarky’s graphic style and love of primary and fluorescent colours lends itself perfectly to the technique of screenprinting where the artist can create an impactful image constructed from separate components in contrasting colours. He also makes limited edition ceramic pieces, clothing and other ‘bits and bobs’.
