Behind the Screen | WIP with Jeff Lowe & Jo Taylor
Elements uniting behind the screen in recent monoprints with @jefflowesculptor. These large prints share the dominating scale of his aluminium sculptures both of which will occupy the space at Pangolin London from mid-January. ‘In The Close Distance’ will display sculpture and printmaking alongside each other, presenting a replication of the layering process that builds the perspective of cylindrical, free-standing forms.
The last week spent in the studio upped the scale and used an interchanging combination of 10 screens to create over 50 unique images. A selection of both these and previously made smaller prints are now being made by the artist in the run-up to the exhibition. Click Here for more information.
Jo Taylor’s work is fuelled by an intrinsic knowledge of her subject, gained, in part, from direct observation and also a solid grounding acquired during a residency at a Department of Veterinary Science. Exploring her ‘natural habitat’ of equine drawings, Jo has worked through layers that build upon a subtle charcoal drawing made on Truegrain.
This powerful and dynamic editioned print is a perfect example of her understanding of anatomy, colour palette and the screen printing process.
